Pick-up lines are a dime a dozen and there are all kinds of French pick-up lines as well. One cannot deny that pick-up lines in French often sweep you off your feet. From the absolutely charming to cheesy and quite bold, these pick-up lines may work for you with that lovely French accent of yours.

Or you might fail miserably.

Whatever the case is, there are all kinds that are worth trying out. Here is but a taste of them.

The Reality With French Pick-up Lines

Before getting to the main event, there are some ground rules that must be covered. As much as flirting and talking about sex is open in France, French pick-up lines are a novelty. One does not simply whip it out all the time!

Some things to keep in mind:

  • The French aren’t known to use pick-up lines in the first place. So why in the world are you writing about this?! Well, that’s because they start talking and pick-up lines come out naturally. The French can be really flirty.
  • Despite pick-up lines being used mostly on strangers, pick-up lines lean you into calling them tu as opposed to vous. Any person who knows a lick of French will find this interesting.

  • No matter what pick-up line you do, never ever say: Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?  You’ve probably heard it from a song or elsewhere. Don’t use it. Just don’t.
  • Some of the sexiest and great phrases are short and sweet. Examples are, “Je t’aime”, “Le cinq-à-sept”, “La lune de miel”, and more. Use these for flirting or even part of pick-up lines.

With these in mind, and your unique accent, here are some French pick-up lines that could land you your chéri(e)!

French Pick-up Lines that are Meant to Draw a Chuckle or Two

Laughing is a good ice breaker and these pick-up lines certainly do that. Here they are and why consider them.

“Excuse-moi mais est-ce que tu embrasses les inconnus? OK, mon nom est _____. “

Spin the aspect that you’re a stranger by asking someone if they kiss strangers. You can turn it around easily by introducing yourself immediately after. When translated, this pick-up line says, “Excuse me, but do you kiss strangers? OK, my name is ____.”

“Si je devais trouver un nouveau nom de sandwich à McDo pour toi, tu serais le Mc-nifique!”

Restaurants can be used to create all kinds of puns and it adds a bit of humour. There are definitely some underhanded ones, but the overall charm of it is amusing. One suggestion is a play-on McDonalds. It’s Mc-nificent!

Here is what the pick-up line means: If I had to find a new McDonald’s sandwich name for you, you would be McNifique!

If You’re Looking For More Cheese

For the people who obsess over the cheese and the puns, here are some other quick one-liners to pull.

“Cela vous a-t-il fait mal quand vous êtes tombé(e) du paradis ?”

This one is the French version of a classic that you might have already heard in your language. Translated from French, it means: Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?

You’ll probably get an eye roll as well, whether you say it in French or in your native tongue. Still doesn’t hurt to try, doesn’t it?

“Est-ce que ton nom est Biscotte? Parce que je te trouve craquante.”

Nobody can resist a rusk! When translated, this French pick-up line means, “Is your name Biscotte? Because I find you irresistible.” A biscotte is a crisp slice of twice-baked bread; craquante plays on both “crunchy” and “irresistible.” Awww.

French Pick-up Lines For The Real Charmers

If you really want a chance at charming someone here are some ways to set up the charm.

“Mes copains ont parié que je n’arriverais pas à démarrer une conversation avec la plus belle personne du [insert location].”

The easiest way to charm someone is to give them some type of flattery or better yet, a sincere compliment. This particular French pick-up line may be taken as both flattery and a compliment. You can use it in any sort of situation. Like a bar or a party perhaps.

In English, it means, “My friends bet that I wouldn’t manage to start a conversation with the most beautiful person in ___.” You’ve just implied that the person is the most beautiful in the room. Now it’s up to the person to feel flattered…. or recoil at your brazenness.   Take your chance!

“Excusez-moi madame mais vous êtes absolument charmante.”

As I just said, compliments are always good for laying on the charm and this one is as simple as it gets. You can go straight to the point and tell the person exactly how charming you think she is.

“Hey, Madame, vous me rappelez la Tour Eiffel parce que vous êtes jolie !”

The Eiffel Tower evokes a lot of different feelings from different people. If you want to turn on some kooky type of charm, say how a lady reminds you of the Eiffel Tower because she’s just too pretty!

Amp up the Volume with More Shameless French Pick-up Lines

Looking for something even more brazen than the ones we mentioned? Try these ones but be warned that they could go either way. The fact they’re so bad could be enough to break the ice…. or break your face! Let’s be positive and hope it’s the former.

“Je rêve de tremper ma baguette dans ta soupe”

When translated in English, this pick-up line means “I dream of soaking my baguette in your soup.” Yep, another baked goods pick-up line though there is a lot of innuendo in this one that it just might get you a slap on the face.

Funny enough though the terms baguette and soupe aren’t always slang for sex organs. Baguette can also be used as slang for legs.

“Si le verbe aimer n’existait pas, je l’aurais inventé en te voyant.”

Translated in English, it means, “If the verb ‘to love’ didn’t exist, I would’ve invented it upon seeing you.” Quite a strong declaration there but who knows, it might work if you’re lucky.

“On devrait t’arrêter pour excès de beauté sur la voie publique.”

Here’s another cheeky line for you to try. When translated, it means, “you should be arrested for excessive beauty in public.” Arrêter in this context means “to arrest,” though it can also mean “to stop.”

“Hey mademoiselle, t’as un 06?”

“Hey miss, do you have an 06?”

Not quite a pick-up line but it brings some key things to light. First, 06 is a prefix for French mobile phone numbers. This means you’re asking for his or her number. Though this pick-up line could be aging poorly: French mobile numbers can also begin with 07, which was introduced in 2010.

Second, mademoiselle is taught in French classes, but France tends to use the term madame to address all women married or not. It’s similar to Americans saying Ms.

Give it a go, but….

Pick-up lines in France are a mixed bag, but could step up your game in the French dating world. With a cute and unique accent, and a load of flirty charm, pulling these off could get you somewhere. You never really know how well they’re received until you try!

But… remember to take these lines we suggested with a grain of salt. The most important thing to remember in the world of dating is to be yourself, and when dating in France, that works well, too!
